"Dead Body Washes Ashore" I always have to giggle a little bit when people sayRead More "dead body", as if there is such a thing as a "live body". EDITORS do your jobs!

I haven't seen "Superman" yet but the actor portraying Superman is worth the $15.00Read More admission. Probably next week. My friend said the "Purge" was by far better than "Superman". Go figure?
Beau Behan June 16, 2013 at 01:32 pm
Yup. I really am curious about your friend's opinion. But, like anything else with other filmRead More reviews, it is always subjective. :)

one gets so used to it after living here for a while but anytime someone visits from out of townRead More they point out that LA feels like a war zone. I have heard so many "Bagdad" and "Apocalypse Now" comments over the years from visitors, I have come to expect them. it seems we are the only urban area in the US that has not figured out how to put a meaningful cap on helicopter noise. how hard can it be if everyone else does it better? LAPD has 2 choppers in the air 24/7. I'm amazed how other cities maintain law and order without anywhere near as much helicopter use. There must be a more reasonable way. As for the News choppers: just raise the taxes and fees for their use by 5000%.

I agree Jess. Sometimes it is difficult to escape the madness but that is part of life living in WH.Read More If one doesn't like it they can always move. I hope to when I can. Moving is expensive etc.....

It is incredibly sad that "The City" approves buildings being raised, and megastructuresRead More replacing them; and approving more places for people to go and get drunk, ruin their health, and possibly be involved in a "hate crime" or an accident on the way home. How about adding something "useful" to the "Civic Center", some nice live entertainment venire? Instead of ANOTHER BAR!
Paul June 16, 2013 at 03:07 pm
They should actually move city Hall into the new Library and move the library to the present cityRead More Hall location. They are going to renovate the park again soon and a lovely civic center with live music would be awesome. This is not just a city with deviant drunks destroying there health

Don, "Most men are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." Abraham Lincoln, andRead More Will Rogers. When you combine that with how we project what we think the world is,....well, it is all in our minds. We are products of our sub-conscious. I read the basic early book on it many years ago, "The power of your subconscious mind", by Joseph Murphy. I read the book three time in a row, and began the process of changing my brain pattern to a very positive outlook. In all honesty, I was in the middle of changing things at that time and was ready for the info then. Almost no one changes their actual thought process and types of habits. Some ingrained from infancy, I am still working on. Sometimes I think of the girl who was the inspiration for the movie "homeless to Harvard" She said that all she did was, "everyday there are options, I just decided to do the right one everyday." Also, will smith in the based on a true story,"The pursuit of happiness" He went from homeless to multi-millionaire. Without the state of mind to change, they would have to win the lottery, and those odds are next to zero.

Scott, you lose all credibility with your subterfuge of using a fake name and not your real name.Read More And you lose the rest of your credibility when you refuse to learn the fact of how our city works and how our ordinances work for historic preservation. I'm not bullying you or being condescending. I am pointing out black and white facts of what you doing with being lazy and expecting people baby you and hand hold you through everything. Stop being lazy and stop hiding behind a fake name on this website.

Scott, you can't even use your real name on this site and you have accused me of petty attacks. YouRead More want to express your opinion and I have a right to question your opinion when it states facts that are incorrect to how the ordinance works for our city for historic preservation. Your statements are misleading and confusing to the readers and residents on this site and are incorrect as per the ordinance for historic preservation. Someone stole the ugly thing? Come steal the rest to. They are really ugly!
Brian Hamilton June 13, 2013 at 12:17 pm

I do not think they are ugly at all. Perhaps everyone above does not have a sense of humor, or areRead More just lacking any art education. This artist is backed by Italy, France and Belgium. If his art is good enough for Italy, the home of some of the world's most beloved artists, then surely his art is good enough for west hollywood ;)

I blame the West Hollywood council member for the closure of the long established main stay lounge,Read More the Palms. West Hollywood is such a small area. It should have never become it's own city. Look at all the money WH has yet the city of Los Angeles is broke. If WH was still part of the city of Los Angeles all the money generated here in WH would be going towards the deficit facing Los Angeles. All these little areas breaking off on there own is a bad idea. Things were better off before cityhood if you ask me here in West Hollywood.

I'm gay but really try hard not to associate with the gay community. The scene irritates me. One areRead More two gay friends who act normal are all I care to know. Bi or straight men are people I tend to befriend. Gay marriage isn't something all gay men care about. I don't. I prefer things stay as they have regarding marriage. Who wants that pressure to marry like like my straight brothers. Not me. Straights can keep marriage as far as I am concerned!

I didn't attend the parade or festival this year and haven't for many years. Been to one been to emRead More all. A bunch of out of towners decent on WH. That part is nice seeing different people just not all at once. From what I saw and from gay prides past, it looked from my recollection that the crowd wasn't like it use to be. I wasn't in the thick of it all but from my view it seemed to be smaller. Where does the actual figure on those who attended come from or is that just some magic number the city throws out there to pat them self on the back?
J Ybarra June 12, 2013 at 10:42 am
For the record, the headline should read: West Hollywood Pride Parade draws HUNDREDS of thousands.Read More Since its inception in West Hollywood, there has been a concerted effort to diminish importance and the drawing power of this event. Truth is ,this is the second largest parade viewing audience in the state of California. Second only to the Rose Parade! This parade is broadcast on Cable and radio, and viewed throughout the world! And whether one acknowledges it or not, the existence of this parade has changed and united lives in the most amazing ways! I personally know of a 64 y.o. man, who thought he had pretty much lost his connection to his community. When he viewed a particular group in the parade from his home on cable, he jumped into his car, fought the traffic AND parking to come to the festival to unite with his friends and community! Such is the importance & power of this annual parade!
