West Hollywood InfoMap Debuts

The public can check the progress of construction projects via a new webpage.

West Hollywood recently unveiled a new addition to the city's website that aims to keep the public informed about the status of projects requiring a permit.

The InfoMap shows the status of proposed and approved projects and enables website visitors to send email directly to the project planner. It displays all discretionary permit projects that are currently being processed by the Community Development Department.

"We have spent lots of time listening to feedback, and we're launching a new tool to help residents find information about development projects that are happening in the City," Community Development Director Stephanie DeWolfe said in a statement. "It is part of our new campaign to use new and innovative technology to make government information easily accessible and improve our communication with the public."

The InfoMap differentiates residential and commercial projects larger and smaller than 10,000 square feet, as well as billboard and tall-wall applications. Details about whether a project is under review, approved, or permitted and under construction are also included.

Only projects with an assigned city planner appear on this map, which will be updated monthly.

Powered by Google Maps, the InfoMap allows users to select satellite, map and street views, the city's Innovations Liaison Francisco Contreras told Council members Monday.

“Recent breakthroughs in technology, digital and social media, mobile computing, and the Internet have increased and facilitated communication and collaboration between City government and residents, businesses, and organizations,” Contreras said in a statement.
