Need Help Preparing Income Taxes?

Find out if you qualify for the Earned Income Credit at voluntary income tax assistance program events throughout April.

Looking for some help with your 2011 income taxes? The federal Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program is featuring free tax preparation assistance nearby West Hollywood for those with household incomes of $50,000 or less.

Upcoming events include March 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at L.A. City College and March 24, same time, at California State University in Los Angeles.

Board of Equalization offices in both Culver City and Norwalk are also offering tax assistance—Tuesday through April 10 in Culver City and Wednesdays through April 11 in Norwalk.

At these events, you can find out if you qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, which could provide a working family with a refund of more than $5,000.

The IRS estimates that 20 to 25 percent of eligible workers fail to claim this important tax credit.
