Plot Lottery at the New Community Gardens in 1201 Detroit St.: Become an Urban Gardener in West Hollywood

A lottery for plots at the new West Hollywood community garden located at 1201 Detroit Street (Detroit Garden) will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Rooms 5 & 6 in the Community Center at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.

The Detroit Garden will provide the community with thirty-three gardening plots. Due to limited space, rental plots are available for a maximum of three years, after which gardeners must sit out of the lottery for two years before reapplying. Gardening plots at the Detroit Garden are $100 annually which help cover the cost of utilities. Gardening plots are only available for West Hollywood residents or those who work within the City of West Hollywood.

Proof of West Hollywood residency or a West Hollywood work address is required to enter the lottery. Acceptable means of identification include a current California Driver’s License; currentphoto I.D.; or recent (within 60 days) utility bill or paystub which includes participants name, company name and an identifiable city address.
