Weho Police Blotter: Business Robberies, Vandalism and 3 Stolen Cars

A hotel worker arrested for causing $10,000 in vandalism also makes this week's list

Businesses in West Hollywood were highly affected by thieves out to steal shoes and clothing. One business was robbed at gunpoint. Here is a list of incidents that occurred within the past week as compiled by the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.

Business Robberies

Unknown burglars broke into a business causing an estimated $1,500 damage to doors and a gate. The crime occurred on Aug. 21 on the 9000 block of Beverly Boulevard at about 5 a.m. It was unknown if anything was stolen.

Following a business inventory, a storeowner reported that an unknown thief had stolen a pair of shoes valued at $775. The crime occurred on the 600 block of Robertson Boulevard and the police report as filed on Aug. 21.

Shortly after stealing clothing items from a retail store, a male suspect, described as Caucasian, was arrested for robbery. The retail store is located on the 8200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. The crime occurred on Aug. 21 at about 7:15 p.m.

An unknown male suspect, described as African American, robbed a business and employees at gunpoint. The suspect took about $3,000 and fled on foot. The crime occurred on the 8500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 25 at about 1:00 a.m.

An unknown thief stole several plants from a garden in front of a business. The loss was estimated at about $1,000. The business is located on the 8900 block of Melrose Avenue. The crime occurred on Aug. 21 at about 4:00 p.m.

An unknown male thief, described as African American, was observed stealing two succulent plants, valued at about $300, from the front of a business and fleeing in a vehicle. The crime occurred on Aug. 22 around 2:30 a.m. at a business located on the 8900 block of Melrose Avenue.

Vandalism

A male hotel guest was arrested for vandalism and other charges after causing an estimated $10,000 damage to his room. The hotel is located on the 1000 block of San Vicente Boulevard on Aug. 19 at about 2 p.m.

Vehicle Crime

An unknown burglar stole the rear tailgate and rear tail lamps from a vehicle parked along the 900 block of block of Orange Grove Avenue. The lamps were stolen on Aug. 20 and the loss was estimated at about $900.

Mobile Thieves

Three unknown male suspects described as Hispanic forcibly robbed a man on Aug. 21. The men took the victim's $400 iPhone and fled in

a vehicle driven by a fourth unknown suspect. The crime occurred on the 500 block of Westmount Drive at about 2:45 a.m.

Computer Crime

A hotel guest reported that an unknown thief had stolen his $2,000 laptop computer from his room. The crime occurred on the 8500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 19 at about 11 p.m.

During the day, an unknown burglar entered a residence and stole a laptop, check books, sunglasses, address book and credit cards, all valued at about $1,425. The crime occurred on Aug. 20 on the 1400 block of Havenhurst Drive. Deputies say an unknown suspect later made two ATM withdrawals totaling at about $325.

A man reported that an unknown thief stole his $1,199 laptop computer from his desk at his residence. The crime occurred on the 1300 block of Larrabee Street on Aug. 21.

Liquor Run

An unknown male thief, described as African American, was observed shoplifting several bottles of liquor, valued at $129, from a market and fleeing on foot. The crime occurred on Aug. 23 on the 8900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at about 12:40 p.m.

An unknown male thief, described as Caucasian, stole five bottles of liquor, valued at about $100, from a market and fled in a pickup truck. The crime occurred on the 1200 block of La Brea Avenue. The crime occurred on Aug. 25 at about 2:30 a.m.

Ceramic Crime

A woman reported that an unknown thief had stolen her ceramic cup and a crystal cross from her apartment a few months ago. The crime occurred on the 1300 block of Havenhurst Drive and the woman filed the report on Aug. 23. The loss was estimated at about $125.

Bicycle Theft

An unknown thief stole an unsecured $1,000 bicycle from the front of a business located on the 8500 block of Melrose Avenue. The crime occurred on Aug. 24 around 4:45 p.m.

Deputies' log

  • Five suspects were arrested for theft or burglary after being observed shoplifting at local retail businesses.
  • Following four separate traffic collisions, four drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
  • Three vehicles were burglarized by unknown suspects. Total estimate of damage and articles taken was $7,155.
  • Three vehicles were stolen by unknown thieves.
  • One reported stolen vehicle was recovered and the owner notified.
  • Twenty vehicles were impounded for thirty days since they were being driven by an unlicensed driver or a person with a suspended or revoked license.
