Rapper Tyler the Creator Arrested in Roxy Vandalism Incident [Photos]

The 20-year-old lead singer of Odd Nation allegedly destroyed an electric soundboard belonging to the venue; crowd rushes into street following arrest.

Rapper Tyler the Creator of the group Odd Nation was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism outside the Thursday night after allegedly destroying the venue's electronic soundboard during a show (see attached YouTube video), authorities said.

The 20-year-old rapper, whose real name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, was taken into custody after deputies were called to the business at 9009 Sunset Blvd. at about 11:30 p.m., said Sgt. Arthur Famble Jr. of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood Station.

"Security staff contacted deputies and stated the lead singer (suspect Tyler Okonma) had just destroyed an electronic soundboard belonging to the venue," Famble wrote in a report. "Security guards ... were desirous of an arrest."

As Okonma was being escorted to a nearby radio car and placed under arrest by deputies, Famble said the crowd exiting the venue became angry and rushed into the street, toward the deputies.

Units from Universal Substation, sheriff's Aero Bureau and Beverly Hills Police Department were summoned to the scene for crowd control. Sunset Boulevard was closed between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard for approximately 30 minutes, Famble said.

No deputies or civilians were injured and there were no other arrests. Okonma was transported to , where he was booked on the vandalism charge.
