LA County officials are currently investigating two crimes Thursday night against transgender women.
West Hollywood Sheriff's deputies responded to shots fired in at 9:55 p.m. Thursday.
The victim, a transgender female, was allegedly walking inside the park when she was approached by a suspect described as a black male, almost six feet tall, wearing a hat and all black clothing, according to the West Hollywood Sheriff's report.
The suspect took out a small semi-automatic weapon and demanded the victim’s purse. The victim was unwilling to give her purse to the suspect.
The suspect fired one shot and left the location in an unknown direction. Nothing was taken and there were no injuries, said Sgt. Arthur Famble Jr. in the report.
Approximately 30 minutes prior, a 32-year-old transgendered female was shot to death on Lexington Avenue and Gower Street.
"The suspect information in both incidents appear to be similar," Famble said.
Nathan Henry Vickers was found just before 10 p.m., Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department told Hollywood Patch. Vickers was pronounced dead at the scene.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department and the LAPD are actively working together to solve both crimes. Anyone with information is directed to contact West Hollywood Sheriff’s investigators at 310-855-8850.
