Independence Day celebrations abound throughout the area.
Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Wednesday, July 4, the 186th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.
Today is a federal holiday. Banks and post offices are closed nationwide. In West Hollywood, City Hall is closed, as is the West Hollywood Library. Parking meters and peak-hour towing will not be enforced today. However, parking in permit areas will be enforced.

While West Hollywood doesn’t have any Fourth of July observances planned, plenty of other places do have celebrations planned. Some are all-day family-oriented events, some are merely fireworks shows. Whichever you choose, there is a celebration near you.

T Rex lives!! Relive the excitement of Jurassic Park where dinosaurs return to modern world. Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Blvd., is offering a screening of the 1994 thriller. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Bring blankets, drinks and picnic dinner for this screening. A fireworks show follows the movie screening. $10 admission.
