Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bete), director Jean Cocteau’s 1946 adaption of Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont’s fairy-tale masterpiece in which the pure love of a beautiful girl melts the heart of a feral but gentle beast, screens at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber in the . The film in French with English subtitles is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Poetic Expression of Jean Cocteau, 1889-1963,” a display of 55 original drawings and lithographs by the French poet, writer and filmmaker showing through July 31 at the .
