Repaving of San Vicente Blvd Starts Tuesday

The City of West Hollywood will begin the San Vicente Boulevard Street Paving Program on Tuesday, May 15. The project includes repaving the portion of San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue as well as installing a new bicycle lane along San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard. The construction project will take approximately two weeks to finish.

The contractor’s work for the week of May 14 will include: 

• On Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. grinding of the existing deteriorated asphalt roadway will take place, and installation of rubberized asphalt pavement surface on San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue. San Vicente Boulevard will be open to traffic. 
• On Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. paving will take place. San Vicente Boulevard will be limited to one travel lane in each direction and driveways will be closed for extended periods.
• After the major paving work is finished, the contractor will spend the remainder of the week adjusting utility covers and installing traffic signal detector loops.

The contractor’s work for the week of May 21 will include: 

• Installation of pavement striping and marking, curb painting and traffic signs. San Vicente Boulevard will be open to traffic.

As part of this project the parking meters located along the east side of San Vicente Boulevard from Pacific Design Center Road to Melrose Avenue will be permanently removed to make room for a new bicycle lane.
