Monday's Scoop: Walgreens, Robertson Blvd. and Promoters Licenses at City Council

The City Council will hear an appeal of the controversial Walgreens mixed-use project and a proposal to create a pedestrian zone on Robertson Boulevard on Saturday nights. Plus, lots of comics at the Laugh Factory.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Monday, May 7, the 128th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

Walgreens, Robertson Blvd. and More

The City Council has a full agenda for its meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on street level at the . The Council will hear an appeal of the  proposed for the southwest corner of Santa Monica Boulevard at Crescent Heights Boulevard. The Council will also discuss closing off a portion of Robertson Boulevard at Santa Monica Boulevard (near ) on Saturday nights during the summer to create a pedestrian zone. Additionally, the Council will counsider an , a proposal that would allow more promoters to do events in the city.

's north parking lot is the place to get some of the freshest fruits and vegetables currently in season as the weekly farmers market gathers there from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Laugh Away the Blues

Monday got you down? Laugh away all that stress and the blues as the hosts two shows. At 8 p.m., Mockery Monday starts with host Dinah Leffert. Featured comics include Nico Santos, The Walsh Brothers and Christian Shirm. At 10 p.m., Comedy Bazaar features Tehran, David Arnold, David Golshan, Sam Tripoli, Dan Ahdoot, Steve Simeone and Ari Shaffir.

Bands Performing in Town

  • Evolove with Lacy Conner’s Halo, The Dark, Demona Mortis and Beta State at the Roxy Theatre. Show starts at 7 p.m. 
  • CLIFF EM ALL with Barbarian Overlords, Devil In Drag and Black Magic Driver at the Viper Room. Doors open at 8 p.m.
  • Smile Empty Soul with The Veer Union, Iona, Chris Patrick Chamblee and Venice Joyride at the Whiskey a Go Go. Show starts at 8 p.m.
  • Steel Panther at House of Blues. Show starts at 9:30 p.m.
