Thursday's Scoop: Marillion, Sarah Silverman and Sunset Strip Market

British progressive rockers Marillion with its fiercely devoted following comes to House of Blues while comedian Sarah Silverman comes to Largo. Meanwhile, the Sunset Strip Market is back for its weekly visit.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Thursday, June 28, the 180th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

British progressive rockers Marillion play the for the second of a two-night stand. Together since 1979, this band with 16 albums to its name has a devoted, cult following that helped land it at Number 38th in Classic Rock's "50 Best Live Acts of All Time" in 2008. Frontman Steve Hogarth knows how to keep audiences entertained. Sun Domingo is the opening act. Showtime is 8 p.m.

The Sunset Strip is the happening place to be on Thursday nights thanks to the new Sunset Strip Market, a certified farmers’ market that also features live music and cooking demonstrations. This week the Market will include a special chef dinner presented by BLT Steak LA’s chef Robert Liberato. Music will be hosted by The Standard’s Desert Nights acoustic series and will feature performances by Yellow Red Sparks, Chris Laterzo and American Bloomers. Open 5-9 p.m., the Sunset Strip Market is in the old Tower Records overflow parking lot, just east of Horn Avenue.
