Community Forum: How New Federal Tax Laws Affect Same-Sex Couples

Join the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center for a special community forum followed by a Q&A session regarding the important new federal regulations that directly affect how registered domestic partners and same-sex married couples should file their 2010 tax returns.

Estate attorney Wendy E. Hartmann and CPA David A. Paddock will explain the new IRS rules that require each taxpayer in a registered domestic partnership or same-sex marriage to report one-half of the couple’s combined income. They’ll also explain how couples can amend their tax returns for 2007, 2008 and 2009 to reflect the new requirements. For some couples, this could result in tax savings and refunds.
