Week in Review: Election Endorsements, Busted Burglar and Edition Hotel

Local Democratic Party clubs voted last week to back City Council incumbents  in West Hollywood's March 5 election. Read about that and more top stories from Jan. 13-19.

1. Members of the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills and Stonewall Democratic clubs overwhelmingly backed Mayor Jeffrey Prang and Councilman John Duran, who are running for re-election.

2. West Hollywood Sheriff's deputies arrested a 56-year-old man for allegedly stealing numerous boxes of gum, candy, cigars and cigarettes.

3. Mariott International Inc. paid $31.5 million for land at the corner of Sunset Bouevard and Doheny Drive, which is the planned site of an Edition boutique hotel.

4. PPO insurance plans must cover a transgender person's hormone therapy, breast reduction, cancer screening or any other procedure deemed medically necessary if they cover it for patients who aren't transgender, according to regulators in California and Oregon.

5. Actor Edward Furlong, Terminator 2: Judgment Day co-star, was arrested Tuesday in West Hollywood for alleged domestic violence.
