Week in Review: El Mirador, Hayworth Condos, National Night Out and More

The City Council approves rehabilitation for the historic El Mirador apartment building and also approves building condos at 1350 Hayworth Avenue. National Night Out sees neighbors come out for a meal and good times.

The West Hollywood City Council gave the go-ahead for and converting it to either an urban inn or condominiums on a 3-1 vote. That approval came despite the building’s owner using his 10 minutes to speak to blast the Council, most notably Councilmembers John Heilman and Abbe Land, for the five-year process filled with roadblocks that had led to that point.

The City Council also approved a , beside the historic Hollywood Riviera apartment building. The owner of the building can now demolish the existing 1940s era two-story, 16-unit apartment building to construct a modern, four-story, 17-unit luxury condominium building.

A group of citizens filed the paperwork with City Hall to place an . The group is asking the City Council to approve the initiative. If the Council does not approve it, then the “Term Limits for West Hollywood” group will begin collecting signatures to place it on the ballot.

neighborhoods as residents came together for a meal with food donated by local eateries. The purpose of the annual event is to promote neighborhood spirit by giving residents a chance to meet new neighbors and catch up with old friends.
