Japanese restaurant Katana begins its 6th Annual Red Sun BBQ Garden today. There will be lots of sushi and drink specials (watermelon margaritas for $8). Weho residents can sit on the patio while listening to DJ Cassie Stevens spin melodious mixes. The event will continue every Sunday evening through Labor Day. 8439 W. Sunset Blvd. 5-11:30 p.m.

Meltdown Comics continues its Sunday Nerdist Writers series with Michael Green, Alexa Junge and Josh Friedman. The television writers will discuss how they got started in their industry and what inspires them. The weekly series features panelists from different writing industries, and a portion of the $15 admission price benefits the literary nonprofit 826LA.
