The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Sunday for the eighth time in 10 days, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $4.365.
The average price is 2.2 cents less than a week ago, but 7.5 cents more than one month ago and 36.1 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price declined for the sixth consecutive day, dropping seven-tenths of a cent to $4.345, 2.5 cents less than a week ago, but 6 cents more than one month ago and 35 cents higher than one year ago.
The dropping pump prices are the result of "a reduction in wholesale gasoline prices," according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
