Sunset Strip Market Returns May 2

The market will be held at 8755 Sunset Boulevard this year, with parking available at the former Tower Records location.

For Weho's lovers of kimchi, kale, cakes and various and sundry other artisinal edibles, the winter's long wait for the return of the Sunset Strip Market is nearly over.

The weekly market, now in its second year of operation, will return on May 2 and will run from 6-10 p.m. on Thursdays in the parking lot at 8755 Sunset Boulevard until October.

The West Hollywood City Council voted on Arpil to allow the market's operators, the Sunset Strip Business Association, to extend the market's hours until 10 p.m.

At the same April meeting, the city council voted in favor of "directing the  Community Development Department to modify the Zoning Ordinance to accommodate alcoholic beverage sales for on-site consumption at farmer’s markets." The council also voted to grant the SSBA $50,000 to pay for costs associated with operating the market, such as water and toilet use.

This year, the market has also expanded its validated parking options, with patrons now able to parking former Tower Records parking lot at 8801 Sunset Boulevard for $5.

The Sunset Night Market's website is heralding the introduction of some new vendors this year, as well as the return of many who participated in 2012.
