2nd Annual Fundraising Concert with Silent Auction

Bosana Foundation is hosting its 2nd Annual Fundraising Concert “The Sound of the Balkans” on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Los Angeles at 8:00pm, silent auction starts at 6:30pm with free parking available.  This is a cultural event comprised of songs and sounds from the Balkan region.  There will be various styles of performance and each, in its unique way, will take the audience on a journey through the history, diverse traditions and sounds of the region.  The goal of the fundraiser is not only to raise funds for orphaned children of Bosnia and Herzegovina but also to promote Balkan music, culture and diversity to surpass the visions, the 1990s war and promote peace and prosperity.

Scheduled to perform is Miroslav Tadic, world renowned guitarist best known for his pioneering work in applying the elements of classical and flamenco techniques to the electric guitar.  He has performed and recorded in a wide variety of settings and musical styles, ranging from music of the Baroque and Classical periods to blues, jazz, and rock.  Voted one of the world's thirty most radical and individual guitarists by GUITAR PLAYER magazine.

Kate Conklin, performing with Miroslav, is a classically trained soprano and a leading interpreter of the highly demanding vocal music of Bulgaria. After a two-year tenure with Cirque du Soleil, Kate now works extensively in film and new works as a vocalist and collaborator with composers and choreographers. Kate currently teaches voice and Alexander Technique and directs Bulgarian Vocal Ensembles.

Also performing is AlmaNova, the award-winning ensemble of innovative flute by Jessica Pierce and guitar by Almer Imamovic, who will be presenting an eclectic program of chamber music with their band consisting of violin, drums and electrical guitar.  

Tickets are currently on sale at www.bosanafoundation.org  Regular admission to silent auction and concert is $50 or VIP seating is $100, which includes a pre-event party with the performers and celebrity guests with Bosnian food and wine served.  Please note that all expenses associated with the event are covered by our sponsors so that 100% of all donations and funds raised from ticket sales will go directly to support our program.
