Ticket sales and donations will benefit the West Hollywood Bicycle Coalition (WeHoBC), which advocates for local bike-oriented services, advocacy, education, and projects that benefit residents, businesses, and visitors.

Funds raised will enable the Coalition to pursue projects throughout 2012, which include educating drivers and cyclists about safely sharing the road, surveying residents about bike network improvements, and reaching out to previously-underserved groups within West Hollywood.

The suggested donation is $5, and $10 donations will receive a drink ticket. In addition, attendees can join a raffle for numerous prizes donated by generous local bike-supporting businesses.

Prizes include bicycle gear valued at $225 from Helen's Cycles, a pair of designer sunglasses valued at $420 from LA Eyeworks, a gift certificate for a bike tour for six from Bikes and Hikes valued at $948, urban cycling gear from Bici Chica LA valued at $50.00, letterpress cards and stationary from Im-pressed Letterpress valued at $40.00, and jewelry by Tasha Rein valued at $50.00.

In addition to raising funds for future projects, the benefit will celebrate the WeHoBC's recent successes in advancing local bike infrastructure and the establishment of new bike-friendly guidelines for city projects.

The WeHoBC made the case for those new guidelines by organizing speakers, one-on-one meetings, and public outreach toward City Council members. On Dec. 7, the Council unanimously accepted a series of wide-ranging recommendations for bike-friendliness made by the city-sponsored Bicycle Task Force.

The WeHoBC's March 15 benefit will not only celebrate that success, but will mark the kickoff for the the organization's next slate of projects.
