West Hollywood Library to Hold Event to Boost the City’s Profile on Wikipedia

The library will be hosting a Wikipedia editing event on Saturday.

The West Hollywood Library is hosting an editing party on Saturday to boost the City’s presence on Wikipedia. The event will allow novice editors to get together with experienced users to work on fixing typos, adding citations, writing text for and creating new articles about West Hollywood to Wikipedia. Participants are encouraged to bring digital photos of West Hollywood and any information that may be useful to post to Wikipedia.

“People really seem to enjoy the editing parties,” Oleg Kagan, a librarian at the West Hollywood Library, said in a written statement. “Each time attendees seem more and more enthusiastic about engaging with Wikipedia. It’s like a light bulb goes on and they say ‘That’s how that stuff gets up there. I can do this too!’”

The event will take place in the West Hollywood Library, at 625 N San Vicente Blvd. on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free and personal laptops are welcomed but computers will be provided.
