Pet Spotlight: Prancer the 'Rescue Dog'

The Blue Nose American Staffordshire Terrier has won the heart of a longtime Weho resident.

Since West Hollywood is considered the pet friendliest city in Southern California, Patch decided to launch a new series that spotlights residents' most adorable companion animals.

Prancer is a rescue from a mobile adoption event held at  almost four years ago. He was set to be killed if nobody adopted him, says his owner Jon, a resident of West Hollywood for the last 12 years. Prior to rescuing Prancer, he said he had lived in West Hollywood for more than 10 years, but did not know any of his neighbors.

"I wanted to adopt a rescue dog," he said. "I knew it would make my life happier, but his adoption has done so much more for me that I now say he is a 'rescue dog,' who rescued me from the TV, computer, telephone, refrigerator, and because of Prancer, I have gotten to know more neighbors than I can count."

Prancer was named after the he way frolics down the boulevard, says his owner. "To this day, when we walk quickly, I often hear people say, 'Look at how that dog prances.' I highly recommend anyone considering adopting or rescuing a dog to go and do it. You will get more from your dog than you can possibly imagine," he said.

Your pet can be featured too. Send Weho Patch a great photo of your favorite animal companion and we'll put it in our Pet Spotlight series.
