'Jeanne Dobrin Day' Proclaimed in West Hollywood

The longtime resident and activist, who will celebrate her 90th birthday next week, is recognized by city officials for her dedication to the community.

Jeanne Dobrin, community activist and resident of West Hollywood for 34 years, will celebrate her 90th birthday Monday. In recognition of her hard work and dedication to West Hollywood, the City Council honored Dobrin at Monday's City Council meeting, by proclaiming Aug. 23 as "Jeanne Dobrin Day" in West Hollywood. Dobrin was born just five days after American women received the right to vote.

"It's just really important and appropriate that the City Council recognize somebody who's played such an important role in this community for nearly half a century," said Councilman Jeffrey Prang. "I'm pleased to be here, joined by all of my colleagues, to pay tribute and honor Jeanne Dobrin, West Hollywood's community advocate."

Dobrin has served as a city commissioner on the West Hollywood transportation commission, on various task force groups and ran for City Council twice. Dobrin was the recipient of the 1st Senior Award in 2002.
