"Helen Reddy Day" Comes to West Hollywood

The singer was honored at a press conference on Monday.

It was pronounced "Helen Reddy Day" in West Hollywood on Monday.

Mayor Abbe Land made the announcement at a press conference this morning at City Hall which was also attended by the singer.

The occasion marked the unveiling of a pictorial postmark, bearing Reddy's likeness, that was done in conjunction with the United States Postal Service.

Nicolosi, the artist who designed the postmark, was also on hand for Monday's event.

Reddy's first number one record was for "I Am Woman" for which she also received a Grammy Award in 1972 in the category of "Best Pop Vocal Performance Female."

Reddy is also scheduled to be the keynote speaker at a special celebration of Women’s Equality Day with "A Night In Herstory" to be held on Monday, Aug. 26, at the West Hollywood Park's Public Meeting Room, Council Chambers and Auto Court located at 625 North San Vicente Blvd.
