A Place Called Home's 20th Anniversary “Gala for the Children” Recognized the Community Contributions of West Hollywood Resident

A Place Called Home (APCH), a South Central Los Angeles based organization providing a safe haven and proven programs to improve the lives of underserved youth, celebrated its 20th anniversary by honoring three outstanding Southland community leaders at its “Gala for the Children” on December 11, 2013. Honored at the festivities held in the ballroom of the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills were West Hollywood resident Jack Suzar, Sister Patricia Connor, RSHM and the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, and Dr. Philip Goglia. Six-hundred and fifty guests attended the annual celebration, which brought in $1.2 million for the organization.

Honored with the APCH Community Builder Award was Jack Suzar, managing director of Bel Air Investment Advisors LLC in Los Angeles. He is a past chairman of the Board of Directors of The City of Hope National Medical Center and the Beckman Research Institute, and has also served on the Board of Advisors at the USC Leventhal School of Accounting and as president of the Board for Jewish Vocational Services. “Jack is a loyal friend of APCH and his years of charitable service in Los Angeles make him the ideal candidate to receive our Community Builder Award,” said Jonathan Zeichner, executive director of APCH.
