When Did Weho Become a Clothing-Optional City?

People in our neighborhood work out and have nice bodies, but is is necessary for them to walk around shirtless or in bikini tops?

In a city where being in shape is basically a requirement, it is no surprise that many people, men and women alike, want to show off their toned and tanned bodies. Shorts, skirts, tight pants, fitted tops, cleavage–we get it, your body is rocking. And hey, if you have the goods, flaunt it. But there is a fine line between being proud and being insecure.

When did clothing become optional?

There are times when little to no clothing is appropriate: The beach, the pool, the gym your home –they're all good places to be undressed-ish. But walking down the street in a bikini top, really? Or for the guys, just wandering around the city shirtless for no reason? I don’t get it.

For one thing, I hate to break it to the people running around this town not properly clothed: It’s not cute.

In fact, it is tacky and instead of showing off your great figure, you are basically shouting at the top of your lungs how insecure you are. You are leaving nothing to the imagination.

There is something sexy about someone who is in great shape and knows it without having to be obvious and obnoxious about it. It has nothing to do with being a prude or being shy, but more about having respect for yourself and being comfortable enough to know that less is more. I know it sounds like an ironic, oxymoronic idea, but the people who have confidence just do.

It’s just tragic that in such a stylish city one would resort to a lack of clothing instead of finding great, figure-flattering pieces that make a positive statement instead of such a superficial one. But for those that are clothed appropriately, we don’t want to see you walking around half naked.

To the naked-ish people all over West Hollywood...why? I'm just wondering why you feel the need to share all of your body with all of the city?

Like I said, if you have a great body, you should absolutely be proud and show it off. I just don’t need to see it all at 10 a.m. as I am trying to enjoy a coffee.
