Mito is driven by the desire to effect change through the fusion of art, design and politics. Since a young age, Mito began to further study the world around him and the meshing of the ideal with the possible. A true humanitarian, Mito infuses this consciousness with innate goodness, a desire to help his community and a tested toughness.

In 1998, at the age of 18, Mito had the opportunity to begin his political career as a young activist through an inspiring grassroots City Council campaign in Northeast Los Angeles. Mito was assigned to "hit the ground running" where he began door to door campaigning in one of the toughest Project Developments in Los Angeles, Ramona Gardens. Through his daily diligence and determination, he was able to have one of the largest voter turn-outs in the history of the campaign.

In 1999, While earning his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science/ International Affairs from the University of California, Riverside, Mito had the opportunity to intern as an organizer with SEIU Local 399, and their fight for healthcare reform within the public and private healthcare sectors. Mito also had the opportunity to contribute his political efforts and experience through being a part of LGBTQ pioneer Assemblymember Jackie Goldberg's re-election campaign staff. There he took his activism to the streets and began door to door campaigning.

In 2000, realizing young people are active, conscience, and want something to stand for, Mito also jumped into the arena of student rights. As a result, Mito began a student movement of accountability throughout college campuses in Southern California. Thus, the student movement gained momentum and Mito had registered over 300 students to join the movement for accountability within their education institution.

In 2002, Mito gained a bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Affairs from the University of California, Riverside; earning him an opportunity to be employed by then Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis; now Labor Secretary for President Obama's Administration. While working with Solis, Mito had the opportunity to fuse his love of art and politics by overseeing the successful, 2nd Annual Congressional Arts Competition, within her 32nd Congressional District. Mito had the opportunity to work with and be versed on issues that were important to the community: Veteran Affair's Issues, Postal Service Issues, and Renter's rights.

Always sustaining his passion for agency through art and politics, Mito currently resides in the City of West Hollywood with his partner, ChadMichael Morrisette. There they have used the roof of their home as a political platform; creating rooftop installations that have garnished international recognition, and support from community members and the public at large.

Mito is currently running for West Hollywood City Council in 2011. Mito is an active member of the West Hollywood/ Beverly Hills Democratic Club, The Stonewall Democratic Club, Member of the West Hollywood Smoking Ban Task Force, and sits as President for a Visual Merchandising/ Branding Consulting Company.
