Hi Mr Wilkinson!
I love some of the 'barely buildings' too along Santa Monica Blvd. One of my…Read More favorites is the Palms bar (not restaurant), across from Starbucks, next to 24 Hour Fitness. As Dan Tana's is to the hungry, mainstream crowd - the Palms is to the thirsty, alternative crowd. And the Palms bar has an incredibly deep, rich, facinating and uniquely So Cal/West Hollywood history - here's a link- http://deadhistoryproject.com/location-history-2/the-palms/

Good for Ben Affleck! Seems Hollywood opened a door for him again and then shut it on the VFX…Read More community and added insult to injury by playing shark music with Spielberg in the audience to silence the award winners. From my friend, Dave Rand in the Hollywood Reporter: Dave Rand, an artist at Rhythm & Hues, said the aim of the effort is “awareness. We are not disrespecting Life of Pi or Rhythm & Hues. We are trying to enlighten the studios that they are taking their racehorse and beating it to death.” Support our artists!

This article would be more relevant to me if I actually lived in Studio City.

@audiemurphy ARGO had 120 speaking parts, numerous locations including Iran and thousands of…Read More Persian extras -- a daunting task for any director! This was an unusual Oscarcast because the awards were more evenly divided and there was no sweep winner. I saw much more publicity and media fawning for Lincoln every single day than for any other film, including a piece by Mr. Turan in Sunday's L.A.Times Calendar section entitled, "ARGO gets a Veto." You complain that ARGO only got 3 Oscars but you're forgetting the number of other awards it has received -- Golden Globes, SAG, Cesar and the BAFTAs. We should all have such a "weak year" in this disastrous economy.

Did hyou do this story because I asked to in the last story about this play? You know, I'm going to…Read More go to to this just after opening night. I'm sure I'll blush, but I'll write up something if I like it. Havne't gone to a play since I wrote up that Johnny O'Callaghan story for you about him adopting that child in Africa!

@ Profes Shivers Thank you for a real opinion about the disaster that is Harold as such a 'modern…Read More marvel' for WeHo. To add to you list of serious and very real design mistakes which the Designer should be sued for (yet gets yet another award without anyone from weho city council requiring accountability) is the dangerous outside staircase, the failure to comprehend the problems of tying to grow grass over an underground parking garage, a streetside BLIGHT and idiotic ideas of putting the cafe at street level instead of on the sunny park level where there are people who are hungry and thirsty and WORST ALL...
.
THERE IS NO BARRIER/FENCE ALONG SAN VICENTE FOR THE ENTIRE PARK WHERE CHILDREN PLAY WITH ALL SORTS OF TOYS/BALLS WHICH COULD (AND WILL SOMEDAY) GO INTO THE BUSY SAN VICENTE AND A SMALL CHILD RUNNING INTO THE STREET TO FETCH IT BACK IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. PARKS 101 - NEED A FENCE TO KEEP KIDS SAFE FROM RUNNING INTO THE STREET AFTER TOYS!

I totally agree--WAY overpriced for what we got. Hell, there's not even any common sense used to…Read More let drivers know which garage to park in (left or right entrance) since the words are way over on the right where pedestrians walk, NOT where drivers look. And then there are the automatic doors that don't work correctly for the meeting rooms, the movies that NEVER play without a hitch in either the community or council rooms, and the terrible sound in this "state-of-the-art" facility. AND WHO'S ON THE HOOK TO PAY FOR CORRECTING THESE MISTAKES? Please do tell.

"Best of the Year" in the " Institutional Project/Library category" makes the…Read More list of potential architectural 'winners' pretty short. Of course it is new, nice & modern, but with the budget spent the overall outcome could have been so much more and better for the city. Nice ... too bad they were limited by the tiny $64 Million Dollars allotted (sarcasm)

I'm appalled that West Hollywood council member can approve of such wasteful spending. Drive around…Read More the city and you can see homeless people living on the streets. These people need assistance yet West Hollywood would rather spend $$$ painting the cross walk pretty colors. Doesn't make sense. Shortly after the paint was dry tire skid marks where seen on the colorful sidewalk. West Hollywood does care about the homeless problem just pretty cross walks.
