The Troubadour is one of Los Angeles' most famous venues for live music performances. Since 1957, young artists have been giving this venue credit for launching their careers. Early performers such as Elton John, James Taylor and Tom Waits all have made their debuts in this small and intimate venue. Tickets must be ordered in advance and most shows sell out quickly because this is not a large venue. Artists like Coldplay and The Killers have been known to schedule surprise concert dates when they want to launch new material or try out songs before they go on tour. Walk-ups are welcome, because there is an area of the bar where standing room only ticket holders may crowd in to get a glimpse of the stage.
