La Conversation is a little cafe serving breakfast, lunch and a variety of pastries and baked goods. The unique interior has French and American influences, with seating at tables or a small bar. Breakfast pastries, baked fresh daily, include plain, savory and sweet croissants, brioche, various muffins and scones. Additionally for breakfast, customers can choose from egg dishes, pumpkin pancakes, breakfast burritos and omelettes cooked to order. A large selection of salads is available for lunch, including Classic Greek Salad, Curry Chicken Salad, Steak and Avocado Salad, Goat Cheese and Roasted Beet Salad and Pear and Arugala Salad. Sandwich choices include such varieties as grilled portabello mushrooms, chicken, avocado, chicken apple walnut sausage, black forest ham and turkey. Owners Steven Carson and Michael Carmona came from Philadelphia to open the bakery and cafe, originally on Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz. La Conversation moved to its present location in 1989. Carson's baking skills are largely influenced by time he spent studying in France.
