Help Out in West Hollywood Area for Big Sunday Weekend

A huge effort to help spruce up the greater Los Angeles area and spread goodwill is planned for this weekend and it's not too late to join.

Big Sunday Weekend is an annual community service event now in its 14th year. Its mission is to build community through community service, believing that everyone has some way they can help someone else.

Despite the name, Big Sunday volunteer events are happening on both Saturday and Sunday

Thousands of people from across California of all ages and backgrounds work together at hundreds of nonprofits, schools and other agencies that need their help. During last year’s Big Sunday Weekend, 50,000 volunteers turned out to lend a hand at more than 500 different projects from San Diego to San Francisco.

Volunteers come as individuals, families or parts of classes, churches, businesses and clubs to make it one of the largest regional community service events in America.

If you can’t commit any of your weekend to a project, another way to help out is by drinking lemonade. Big Sunday is partnering with Alex's Lemonade Stand, an organization that raises funds to help find a cure for children with cancer. 

There will be a few lemonade stands scattered throughout the area. Stop by and pick up a few cups to support the cause.
