Weho Resident Gets into Shape for 26.2 Mile Challenge
Courtney Gross joins the LA Roadrunners' training program in hopes of crossing the Finish Line of the 2012 Marathon.
The LA Roadrunners’ training program, headquartered in West Hollywood, launched its first training of the season in select locations last week.
"I've watched the marathon go by my street for the past few years and I've stood outside and cheered people on even in the rain, and so I thought I could do it." said Weho resident Courtney Gross. "So this year I just did it."
Her main goal is simply "to finish," she said. Gross joined on to walk the marathon to meet new people and have fun.

"People can expect to take an unbelievable life changing experience," said LA Roadrunners Senior Pace Leader Michael Sorich. "If you haven't done a marathon and you do one, it really does change how you think about yourself."
Roadunners met at Westminster Avenue Elementary to begin the first training session of the season. Running and walking groups later migrated to the street and took over the Venice Boardwalk. For the next 28 weeks, this will be the routine for all groups to help build up to the LA Marathon.

"You meet people from all walks of life all going towards a common goal" said Sorich.
For those interested, it is not too late to register and join LA Roadrunners. All paces are welcome. Groups range from running, run/walking and walking. The groups are separated by the amount of time participants need for their particular run or walk.
