Hoops Guards Put on Fullcourt Press List

The session included Fairfax's Reggie Theus Jr. and Pacific Hills' Namon Wright.

The 2011 Fullcourt Press Lead Guard Camp's high school session was held Saturday and Sunday at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson and among the top Southern California players signed up to participate were Reggie Theus Jr. of Los Angeles Fairfax High and Namon Wright of Pacific Hills High.

The camp ran from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day and included lectures from guest speakers, then ball-handling, dribbling, passing, transition and defense drills, followed by scrimmages to end each session.

Theus Jr., a 6-foot-6 junior, is the son of former Sacramento Kings coach and current Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Reggie Theus, who played 13 seasons in the NBA. Fairfax finished 17-10 last season and lost to Western League rival Westchester 59-34 in the quarterfinals of the City Section Division I playoffs, with Theus Jr. scoring five points.

Wright, a 6-3, 175-pound sophomore, was offered a scholarship in July to play at New Mexico State. He averaged four points per game as a ninth-grader last season for Pacific Hills, which went 15-13 and lost to eventual champion La Canada in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs.
