Junior Lindsay Levesque and senior Coco Maurice from the Archer School for Girls (Brentwood) team were named to the 5AA All-CIF team Wednesday, recognizing the 14 top players from the 75 plus teams that make up the California Interscholastic Federation 5AA division. The prestigious award, selected by an appointed committee of coaches and media members, is presented by the LA84 Foundation.
Archer senior Leslie Baker and junior Ciena Lennon received votes in the process, earning "honorable mention". This past season Archer enjoyed its best volleyball season on record, achieving a 16-5 overall record to go with the third place finish in the CIF playoffs.
Levesque and Maurice join Georgina Stage (class of 2010) as the school's only volleyball players to receive All-CIF recognition. Maurice becomes the first athlete in Archer history to be named All-CIF in two sports, receiving the award last year in basketball. Levesque received Archer's 2011 Athlete of the Year Award after being named first team All-League in volleyball, soccer and softball. Both students also received Archer's coveted Dedication Award for the 2010-11 year, recognizing three sport varsity athletes.
In addition, the Gold Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) announced the girls volleyball All-League selections for the Alpha and Delphic Leagues November 21st. Seniors Leslie Baker and Coco Maurice and junior Lindsay Levesque were selected to the Delphic League first team. Junior Ciena Lennon and Sophomore Kirsten Avila were named to the second team. Coaches from each of the league schools participated in the selections.
