West Hollywood's Free Weekend Trolley Under Review by City Council

The six-month pilot program with American GTS, the company that owns and operates the trolleys, expires later this month.

West Hollywood's free evening trolley "The Pickup," which offers free rides down Santa Monica Boulevard on Friday and Saturday nights, debuted in August and is now up for review by the West Hollywood City Council.

The six-month pilot program with American GTS, the company that owns and operates the trolleys, expires later this month.

On Monday, the city council asked city manager Paul Arevalo to look into continuing The Pickup program on a month-to-month basis while a full analysis of its success is underway. City representative Lisa Marie Belsanti expects the findings to be impressive—between 1,200 and 1,500 boardings have been recorded per weekend, “much more” than was originally expected.

Do you use the trolly? Do you want it to become a regular feature in Weho on weekends? Tell us in the comments.
