West Hollywood Councilman Jeffrey Prang Announces Candidacy for County Assessor

Prang is the special assistant for public affairs in the Office of Assessor.

West Hollywood Councilman Jeffrey Prang announced his candidacy Wednesday for Los Angeles County Assessor in the June 2014 election.

Prang is the special assistant for public affairs in the Office of Assessor. He was a special assistant to then-Assessor Kenneth P. Hahn in the 1990s. Prang has been endorsed by Hahn and a second former assessor, Rick Auerbach.

"My top priorities as assessor will be to restore the reputation of this department as the finest and fairest public office in the nation, treating all property owners and taxpayers with dignity and respect while producing a fair and reliable trillion-dollar assessment roll based on Proposition 13 guidelines," Prang said.

Assessor John Noguez took a leave of absence on June 1, 2012, in connection with ongoing investigations. He was arrested on Oct. 17, 2012 on 24 felony counts.

Prang has been elected to five four-year terms on the West Hollywood City Council and served as the city's mayor for four one-year terms.
