Weho City Council Votes Against Preserving Tower Records as Landmark

Mayor Abbe Land says "it didn't meet the criteria."

The West Hollywood City Council voted unanimously on Monday to let a previous historic preservation commission’s decision stand and not deem the Tower Records building in West Hollywood a cultural resource.

The decision came despite an online petition started by resident Jerome Cleary that had received more than 1,800 signatures.

Mayor Abbe Land said that even though many people had fond memories of Tower Records, “it didn’t meet the criteria” for preservation, according to CBS Los Angeles.
