Thursday's Scoop: Planning Commission to Hear Abbey Application for Dancing, Entertainment

A second hearing will determine whether to change the bar's conditional use permit from a restaurant to a nightclub.

Main Event: Planning Commission Meeting

The Commission will hear a petition at the 6:30 p.m. meeting in  to allow dancing at . The commission first , but continued it until June 16 due to an incomplete report from City Hall staff.

Runner Up: BASH’D

The West Coast run of the dramatic gay rap opera continues at West Hollywood’s Celebration Theatre. The 70-minute show tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers narrated through the comedic rhymes of characters named T-Bag and Feminem. Other Happenings:

  • The Los Angeles Art Association at  presents the fourth annual all-media art exhibition Out There, celebrating the LGBT experience, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Diamonds Are Forever, makes its LA premiere at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s The Renberg Theatre at 8 p.m. The concert features Dame Shirley Bassey's legendary songs by Broadway star Jennifer Leigh Warren. Tickets are $30.

The Forecast:

  • The National Weather Service predicts drizzle and patchy fog before 11 a.m., gradually becoming mostly sunny. Temperatures will reach near 71, and drop to around 57.
