Rainbow Crosswalks Delayed by a Day

The city will paint the crosswalks at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard early Friday morning rather than the originally scheduled Thursday morning. The crosswalks will be painted rainbow colors for Gay Pride month.

Wondering where the are? It seems they have been delayed by a day.

The crosswalks at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard in Boystown were originally scheduled to be painted Wednesday night/Thursday morning starting at midnight.

However, the city is now reporting that the crosswalks will be painted during the early hours on Friday morning. No reason for the delay was given.

At its Monday meeting, the City Council approved painting the crosswalks rainbow colors in honor of Gay Pride Month. The rainbow colors will remain on the crosswalks throughout the month of June. After that, the bricks in the crosswalk will be repainted red.

The intersection was selected because it is considered the heart of the Boystown gay district and also serves as the entrance to the LA Pride festival taking place in West Hollywood Park over the weekend.
