Duran Leads in Campaign Fundraising
Financial statements from the nine Council candidates are available on the city's website.
Councilman John Duran leads the pack of candidates running for West Hollywood City Council with nearly $90,000 in campaign contributions received for the 2013 election.
Documents available on the city's website show the following contribution totals for the field of nine hopefuls:
- Councilman John Duran: $89,885
- Mayor Jeffrey Prang: $55,550
- Christopher Landavazo: $26,151
- Steve Martin: $21,118
- Sam Borelli: $20,358
- Tristan Schukraft: $3,383
- Nick Garzilli: $700
- Tome Demille: $300
- Rusty Wiggs: $100
The website Wehoville has published several stories analyzing where the money came from, noting that the bulk is from real estate developers based outside West Hollywood. Some contributions fall into the "questionable" category, such as a $500 contribution from a Duran donor who claimed he never heard of the councilman.
