PHOTOS: Duran Honored as Outgoing Mayor

Outgoing Mayor John Duran receives accomodtions for his year of service to the city during Monday night's City Council meeting.

Jeff Prang may have received the lion’s share of attention at Monday night’s City Council meeting where he was sworn in as mayor at by 29th District Congressman Adam Schiff, (D-Pasadena). But outgoing Mayor John Duran was also recognized at Monday’s meeting.

Duran received three different accommodations to honor his year of service as the city’s mayor:

Duran was first elected to City Council in 2001 and has served twice before as mayor. Duran is one of three openly HIV-positive elected officials in the nation.

Duran's term in office expires in March 2013. He has not yet announced whether he will run for City Council again.

I gotta say Jeff you've come along way from being Steve Martin's roommate. Who would have thunk it? Steve did a lot for you but you did the work obviously. Congrads!

Thank you, Mr. Mayor for your service to the city. In the last year, I have come to appreciate the contributions that the council offer to the city, and especially have come to respect and admire you, for your demeanor and temperment while serving as chair of the televised council meetings. You possess a very impressive command of the proceedings and a deft hand in working council business to amicable results. All the best to you, and please run again in 2013.

Satire??? With the "you should be greatful" comments, his visibly annoyed and tired expressions during meetings, and the famous explicit tanturm he thew at the Democratic Party meeting .... "demeanor" and "temperment" are two of the major flaws, among others, in personality and charicter that made Duran an embarassment to the city and certainly offensive to many residents of the City. It looks like someone brown-nosing for some other motivation to brush the overblown ego of Duran. I am glad there wasn't a 'Duran quote' in this leaving office announcement.
