PHOTOS: Duran Honored as Outgoing Mayor
Outgoing Mayor John Duran receives accomodtions for his year of service to the city during Monday night's City Council meeting.
Jeff Prang may have received the lion’s share of attention at Monday night’s City Council meeting where he was sworn in as mayor at by 29th District Congressman Adam Schiff, (D-Pasadena). But outgoing Mayor John Duran was also recognized at Monday’s meeting.
Duran received three different accommodations to honor his year of service as the city’s mayor:
- Prang presented a plaque from the city to Duran.
- Assemblymember Betsy Butler presented an Assembly Resolution to Duran.
- Cara Stewart from 23rd District Senator Fran Pavley’s office presented a proclamation to Duran.
Duran was first elected to City Council in 2001 and has served twice before as mayor. Duran is one of three openly HIV-positive elected officials in the nation.

Duran's term in office expires in March 2013. He has not yet announced whether he will run for City Council again.
