Council Appoints Eastside Task Force

Nine community members will attempt to enhance the eastside's representation in Weho's city government.

The West Hollywood City Council appointed members of the Eastside Task Force on Monday.

The council chose nine community members that include residents and business owners charged with exploring "ways to create a broader community representation with a focus on quality of life, public safety, and future development of the eastside," according to a city staff report. "In addition to providing the City Council with feedback from eastside residents and business people, the task force will also focus on investigating methods to create an infrastructure to facilitate better dialogue between City Hall, and the residents and business community on the eastside."

Each of the five council members appointed one person who had applied to be part of the task force:

  • Mayor Jeffrey Prang appointed Lisa Andreson.
  • Mayor Pro Tempore Abbe Land appointed Adam Bass.
  • Councilman John Duran appointed Alicia Matricardi.
  • Councilman John D'Amico appointed Jennifer Dunbar.
  • Councilman John Heilman appointed Rob Bergstein.

The remaining four appointees were chosen according to a majority consensus of council members' nominations:

  • Ruth Williams
  • Steve Levin
  • Carlos Florez
  • Michael Jay

Terms for task force members are six months.

Wouldn't a nice short bio of each person be great. And what they bring to the table.

If Russians do not reside, but only own businesses on the Eastside and other Russians drive from other areas or walk locally to shop then they are a demographic. I beg to differ with Mr. Duran - but he knows that. I wonder if our Russian residents know that he has written them off in one sentence. I wonder if anyone will tell them....

Ruth and Jen live here and Jen is an architect who specializes in historic buildings.

The application to be a member of the Eastside Taskforce required that someone be 1) an owner/occupant, 2) renter, or 3) business owner - east of Hayworth. I'm Adam Bass - and I live on Ogden and Romaine, on Weho's eastside.

Russians? Are you for real? We live in the USA! Do we need to appoint a Hispanic, White, Black, Asian, Gay, Straight, Handicap, French, Italian, Japanese, Nigerian, Democrat, Republican,Jew, Muslim, Christian, English speaking, Non English speaking...well, hopefully you get the drift. Be a part of the USA or don't. You are either American or you are not...it's not complicated.

And he was right. ALL.. West Hollywood residents are the "demographic". Why do you feel Russians need to be special?

SHOCKING!!!....when you see it all on one page like this.....yes, WHO owns weho is a good question!!!....can you say {{{{{{{ D-E-V-E-L-O-P-E-R-S }}}}}}} boys and girls???....the city is clearly for sale and our city council members are selling it all off one block at a time.....who wants to live in a concrete jungle of buildings 6 or more stories up creating a dark tunnel along santa monica blvd, sunset blvd and la brea ave????.....not to mention the insane gridlock of cars on all streets in every direction....do the RESIDENTS really want a Mini- Manhattan???...ohhhh yes, that's right, the city doesn't ASK its residents want they want.....they just ramrod their developer friends projects down our throats....thankfully, a lot of people are starting to fight back against this insanity.......join the fight now people, once the deal is done, there's nothing you can do but choke on the mess the council has created.....GREAT JOB putting this page together folks!!!
