The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles has endorsed Betsy Butler in her bid for the election to the state’s 50th Assembly District.
AAGLA represents the interests of more than 20,000 rental property owners across the Los Angeles area, including West Hollywood, Santa Monica and much of West Los Angeles. According to the latest census figures, 78 percent of West Hollywood residents live in rental units.
“In her first term in the state Legislature, Assemblymember Butler has demonstrated a genuine understanding of the challenges facing the owners and managers of rental housing in California and has always taken a balanced approach to dealing with legislation affecting the industry,” said AAGLA executive director James Clarke in a statement announcing the endorsement.
Butler said she was honored by the support of AAGLA.
“I will work to ensure people throughout the 50th District have as many affordable housing options as possible and I look forward to assisting AAGLA in making sure this promise becomes a reality,” Butler said in a statement.
Butler is one of four candidates in the June 5 primary. She is up against community activist Torie Osborn, Santa Monica mayor Richard Bloom and West Hollywood attorney Brad Torgan.
