Elderly Weho Couple Killed in Murder-Suicide, Deputies Say

Leo and Jean Moss' son-in-law shoots them and then himself in Valencia on Friday, officials say.

An elderly West Hollywood couple was killed in a murder-suicide in Valencia on Friday, authorities say.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has identified the victims as Leo Moss, 95, and Jean Moss, 90, the Daily News reported Saturday. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner told Patch that the couple had been living in West Hollywood.

The gunman is identified in the story as their son-in-law, Martin Fred Strassner, 64, a retired dentist.

According to the Daily News, Strassner picked the couple up at the assisted-living facility where they lived and drove them to his home in Valencia. Parked in the driveway, he fatally shot the Mosses, then turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger.

Strassner's wife reportedly discovered the three bodies in the car after hearing the gunshots.

A handwritten suicide note was found in the car, a sheriff's deputy said. The deputy did not say what the note contained.

The sheriff's department did not give a motive for the homicides, but the Daily News reported that Strassner suffered from depression.

Authorities say the case is under investigation. A spokesperson with the county coroner said an autopsy should be completed within 24 hours.
