Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrested seven motorists this weekend at a West Hollywood checkpoint erected to ensnare impaired or unlicensed drivers, authorities said Monday.
The checkpoint was set up on San Vicente Boulevard, just north of Beverly Boulevard, Friday night, said Detective Daniel Dail, who coordinated the detail.
In all, 1,121 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 873 drivers were checked for signs of impairment, Dail said. Three drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI and one was arrested because he was named in an "alcohol warrant," he said.
Also arrested and ordered to appear in court were a motorist driving on a suspended license and two driving without licenses.
The sheriff has scheduled more checkpoints—on Jan. 4 in Pico Rivera, Jan. 11 in Norwalk, Jan. 18 in Lakewood and Jan. 25 in West Hollywood, Dail said.
