St. Patrick's Day DUI Checkpoint Results in 9 Arrests

Five cited for driving without a license and two for being under the influence.

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at a Saturday night in West Hollywood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The checkpoint operation ran from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday on San Vicente Boulevard, just north of Beverly Boulevard.

Nine people were arrested in total, including five for not having a license and one for driving on a suspended license, LASD said. A total of 737 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

According to an LASD statement, "The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol."

The operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
