Sobriety Checkpoints Due in Nearby Hollywood Tonight

LAPD to set up checkpoints on Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The Los Angeles Police Department, the county Sheriff's Department and the  California Highway Patrol will be out in force as part of the statewide "Avoid the 100 DUI Task Force" to catch drunk drivers over the holidays.

In anticipation of the season, the LAPD has planned the following sobriety checkpoints and driving-under-the-influence (DUI) patrols for Friday, Dec. 23 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.:

  • Sunset Boulevard at Coronado Street in northeast area
  • Santa Monica Boulevard at Bronson Avenue in Hollywood area
  • Western Avenue at Slauson Avenue in 77th Street area

The statewide "Avoid the 100 DUI Task Force" is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
