The container is descriped as a metal cylinder with wires and tape, according to preliminary reports.

A Los Angeles police bomb squad was sent to an area near the Sunset Strip to investigate a suspicious container, but no injuries were reported, police and city fire officials said.

The incident began around 1 p.m. at 1200 N. Londonderry Place, said Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department.

"It is a container. It is not leaking," Joseph said. "They are checking it now just as a precaution."
