Police Blotter: Hit-and-Run, Stolen Bike and Missing Bling

May 16-22 sees burglary, grand theft and vandalism at West Hollywood homes and businesses.

This week's Police Blotter saw a thief ride away with an expensive bike and a doctor's office burglarized. In other crime news, a hit-and-run accident took down a street light on Sunset and movers were accused of stealing a 14K gold bracelet.

Hit-and-Run

Suspicious circumstances took place on the 8800 block of Sunset Boulevard Monday, May 16. A Southern California Edison street light pole crashed onto the roof of a rented 2010 Toyota Corolla around 1:20 p.m. According to a Weho Sheriff's Station traffic report, deputies responded to a hit-and-run accident at the same location at 12:06 p.m., where a Ryder truck had backed into the pole and driven eastbound on Sunset out of view. The vehicle suffered $18,000 worth of damage. The light pole is valued at $10,000.

Doctor Office Break-In

Someone robbed the office of Dr. Phillip Fleshner at 8737 Beverly Blvd. between May 15 and 16. An employee allegedly arrived at work at 8 a.m. on Monday to find pry marks on the entrance door, drawers pulled open and the alarm sensor turned off. The only item found missing was a $1,500 laptop. The deputy requested a print technician and attempted to obtain video footage, but there were no cameras in the office area, according to the report.

Missing Bling 

A home in the 500 block of N. San Vicente Boulevard was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Monday, May 16. The victim allegedly left a box with a 14K gold bracelet valued at $3,500 on the bed and $150 in cash on the living room table and returned to find his belongings missing. Deputies questioned two "Starving Students" movers, who said they were unaware of the items. 

Stolen GPS

Someone broke into a vehicle on the 8500 block of West Knoll Drive between Tuesday, May 17 at 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 8 a.m., stealing a $200 Magellan GPS receiver and $200 iPod from the center console. The responding deputy saw a smashed window, and broken glass inside and outside of the car, according to the report, which noted that a motorcycle was stolen from the sub-garage around the same time.

Bicycle Theft

A $1,497 specialized bicycle was stolen from at 8743 Santa Monica Blvd. at Tuesday, May 17 around 6:20 p.m. The owner had secured three identical Globe 21-speed hybrid road bicycles with a braided metal cable lock on display in the front common patio area. A bartender at , an adjoining business, noticed a male adult loitering, who later allegedly cut the cable lock and rode away northbound on Westbourne Drive.
