No Fires Overnight in City of West Hollywood; LASD Remains Vigilant

Suspects are still wanted and a reward is being offered for their capture and successful prosecution.

There have not been any arson fires in the City of West Hollywood since 2:09 a.m. Friday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported Saturday.

"There has been a significant increase in deputies on patrol throughout West Hollywood over the past few days, as well as incredible support from community members and West Hollywood city officials," said Captain Kelley Fraser, , in a statement.

On Thursday night and early Friday, and five others in next-door West Hollywood. Most started in cars. A home in the hills where Jim Morrison wrote the song "Love Street" about girlfriend Pam Courson went up in flames on Rothdell Trail.

In some cases, fires started in cars damaged living units above them, causing the residents to move out. At least 10 cars were believed to have been destroyed, and four buildings were damaged. Firefighters estimated the damage at $185,000.

Police detained a 22-year-old Sunland man on suspicion of setting fires early Thursday, but he remained in custody as the other fires broke out the past two night.

"This is not over," Fraiser said. "We all need to work together to put a stop to this. We will continue to have an increased deployment and are asking everyone to please, 'If You See Something, Say Something.'"

City and county officials have offered a $60,000 reward for information leading to the culprit. Tips can be called into city firefighters at 213-893-9800, county firefighters at 800-633-2836.
